THE BRISBANE TO GLADSTONE YACHT RACE

The Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race use to held every year. The blue water excellent starts from Shorncliffe in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australiaand completes in Gladstone Harbor. It appeals in contenders from interstate and more often attracts an armada of 40 to 100 pontoons. The tradition of race has been continued since 1949. The Organizing Authority is the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club. The course drives the yachts northwards from the start line at the Shorncliffe wharf each Good Friday in Shorn cliffe up the primary channel of Moreton Bay, out of Moreton Bay leaving Fraser Island to port.

In 2015, Queensland racer Black Jack has been succeeded in winning the 67th Brisbane-to-Gladstone yacht race. Dark Jack cruised into Gladstone Harbor around 11:30am (AEST) Saturday, asserting consecutive line respects in the yearly race. The team, skippered by Mark Bradford, group was on track to break the race record; however, winds dropped early Saturday morning. Their nearest match, Alive, is because of touch base in the next couple of hours. Whatever is left of the armada is not anticipated that would complete for quite a while.

Total 30 yachts partook in the yearly occasion, which left from Shorncliffe in Moreton Bay close Brisbane on Friday morning. Dark Jack proprietor Peter Harburg said it had been a “BEST EXCURSION”.
“The conditions in the beginning for the first 12 hours [of the race] really suited the boat and we got away from the rest of the fleet,” he said.
“Then it got a bit quiet, which suited other boats.”
Mr Harburg said the group had been confident on Friday night that Black Jack would get a record race time and additionally the win.
“But that wasn't to be but we're very, very happy to have won the race,” he said
