NEWS ROUND: LATEST HAPPENINGS IN THE YACHTING WORLD

111 yachts participated in the Rolex Yacht Race
As mentioned at the sail-world.com, total 111 yachts are going to participate in the 2015 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race from 10 countries. The entries for competition have closed officially and Cruising Yacht Club of Australia announced that 111 yachts will be participating in the competition out of which 83 boats are almost from every state of Australia and the rest 28 yacht are international entries. All the yacht will start at the same time but important to mention here is the super maxis and other larger yachts will lead off the front line.
CYCA Commodore John Cameron said about the 71st edition of the event that “We are witnessing a resurgence of the best sport in the world which is very verified by the statistics of 111 entries, including 28 from the globe and six women skippers.”

The commodore enthusiastically said that “We are looking forward to a very exciting event, with adrenaline pumping from the start on Boxing Day, to the last yacht finishing in the Derwent River.”
Surprisingly, the number of entries didn’t exceed this year like happened in past (this century), but international entries were amazing, including Britain and the UK, China, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Belgium and the USA. The competition will start on Boxing Day, December 26, at 1pm and will be live streamed on Mobile, the Seven Network throughout Australia, and live webcast on Yahoo!7.
